Birth Options Consulting with Penny Simkin.

Having a satisfying birth experience can have lifelong impacts on a woman's self-esteem, the couple's relationship, and their view of themselves as parents. The choices families make in planning for a birth can influence their chance of long-term satisfaction.

Penny can offer personalized advice about options in childbirth, and how to make decisions that enhance your childbirth experience. She can cover: choosing a care provider, choosing a birth place, pain management options, doula care, and birth plans. She will guide you in discovering which options are best for you based on your values, concerns, and priorities.

About Penny Simkin.

Penny is a physical therapist who has specialized in childbirth since 1968, providing birth education for over 8000 couples, and serving as a labor support doula for hundreds of birthing families. She is the author of many books on childbirth, including Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the Newborn, The Birth Partner, and When Survivors Give Birth: Healing the Effects of Early Sexual Abuse.

New Parent Consulting with Ann Keppler or Barb Orcutt

Parents may make appointments to discuss any challenging parenting issues and decisions such as:

  • reconciling baby's and parents’ sleep needs,

  • returning to work,

  •  balancing work and family life,

  •  dealing with difficult family relationships,

  • developing healthy infant eating habits,

  • and parenting the high needs or spirited infant.

Parents would be offered an array of possible approaches to their challenge based on current and anticipated infant development, pediatric recommendations, and the parent's own individual philosophy and style of parenting.
